Latin Liturgy & Music

St Anne Catholic Church

Rome Is Encouraging All the Worlds’ Catholics To Be Able to Acclaim Mass Responses in Latin.

In the new Official Church Document “Sing To The Lord: Music In Divine Worship” paragraphs 61-66, our Church asks us to “foster the role of Latin in the Liturgy, particularly in liturgical song”.

For several years now, our parish has been doing a good job singing the Latin Eucharistic responses (“Holy, holy”...Memorial Acclamation...Great Amen...and the Lamb of God) during the season of Lent... so we feel we have gotten a head start on many parishes. But to continue learning and singing more of Latin in our Liturgies, we are planning to add the “Our Father...Pater noster” to our Latin Acclamations this Lenten season.

The “Pater Noster” can be found in the Breaking Bread Hymnal # 863.
