ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Fellow Catholics, We all seem to be having a lot of fun with the ALS ice bucket challenge, however, the ALS Association's funding of embryonic stem cell research is "in direct conflict with Catholic teaching." The Catholic Church relates the use of embryonic stem cells in research to abortion and says it violates the sanctity of human life. The use of adult stem cells in research is not forbidden... by Catholic teaching. Any donations can be made to the John Paul II Medical Research Institute in Iowa City, Iowa, which conducts "Pro-life driven" research. So get out there and dump some ice on your head to raise awareness of ALS, but send your donation to a Catholic organization in order to support the sanctity of human life.
